Is Health Care At Risk in Cayuga County?
In support of its members and their ongoing contract negotiations at a local hospital in Auburn NY, health care labor union 1199 SEIU utilized a billboard truck to amplify public awareness that the nurses and other hospital staff are concerned about patient care issues – including as staffing levels. In addition to its daily routes around Auburn, the billboard truck served as a backdrop for several interviews of union leaders and local politicians by a reporter from Syracuse ABC TV affiliate Channel 9, and then led a 50-car rolling rally through the community on a sunny mid-winter Saturday afternoon – both events subsequently featured on that evening’s news broadcast.
